3/16/10 - I'm a tourist, not a terrorist. Please don't confiscate my camera!
As is the nature of politics, the pro-life prayer meeting was postponed until Wednesday, 17 March. Unforunately, we are returning to Lugoj this evening so I will not be able to participate after all but have submitted my petitions. We did however have an opportunity to tour the Baptist Theological Seminary in Bucharest and they served us a lovely brunch there.
After brunch we toured the city and eventually arrived at the Romanian House of Parliament. Now mind you, we saw no signs that indicated that you cannot take photographs. The armed security guard demanded that my window be rolled down and reached into the car as if to take my camera. The driver of the car was saying, "Erase it. Erase it. Let him see you erase it." But I didn't/don't know how to delete photos from my camera. After watching me fumble with the buttons and perhaps even thinking that I had erased it he walked from the car and I put my camera away. I was unable to take any photographs at the House of Parliament or with any of the dignitaries I met.
The Romanian Parliament House was built by the former dictator Nicolae Ceausescu and is the largest civillian adminstrative building in existence. He intended to live in and enjoy all this opulence while his people were impoverished and living in squallor. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palace_of_the_Parliament
