Day 4

March 11, 2010

Breakfast meeting at 8:00am at Hotel Dacia.  At 9:00am we walked over to Grace Christian School for VBS with two classes of 3yr olds, totaling approximately 24 children.  We used pretty much the same format as on Wednesday and that worked well; however, we omitted the story and verses on Adam and Eve to accomodate their short attention spans.  We allowed the children to have "free play" for the last 40 minutes of the morning and went to the dining hall at 12:00pm.

We headed over to the placement centers around 1:50pm.  Both teams reported that the young people seemed to open up and were sharing in a way they never have before.  This will allow us to meet them at the point of their need.  At PC 3/4 Haley attended art class with some of the young people and I attended choir rehearsal with nineteen children and four teens.  The choir director is from Betel Church in Timisoara.  Several of the teens expressed that they would be interested in doing a Bible study with me over the next 4.5 weeks.  We had to leave at 4:15pm today in order to make the commute to our Village Church.

We attended evening servies at a small village church in Costieu.  We sang four songs (Mighty to Save, We Fall Down, I'm Trading My Sorrows and Here I Am to Worship) and each of us shared by way of words of encouragementand  or personal testimony.  Dorian preached on Rev. 3:16-21, supported by Eph. 5:1-10.  The service was well attended and the building was nearly at capacity.  There were nearly 60 people there including: evangelical believers, non-believers, children, those from other denominations and even some other villages.

16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit  you out of My mouth. 17 Because you say, 'I'm rich; I have become wealthy, and need nothing,' and you don't know that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked, 18 I advise you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire so that you may be rich, and white clothes so that you may be dressed and your shameful nakedness not be exposed, and ointment to spread on your eyes so that you may see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be committed and repent. 20 Listen! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and have dinner with him, and he with Me. 21 The victor: I will give him the right to sit with Me on My throne, just as I also won the victory and sat down with My Father on His throne.

Revelation 3:16-21 HCSB

We actually had a short day...

March 10, 2010
We had our breakfast meeting at 8:00am and then walked to GCS at 8:55am.  We had VBS with two different classes today - 4yr olds and 4yr olds.  Dorian read the synopsis of the Bible Story to the children and I read Genesis 45:1-28 (Joseph recognizes his brothers) as well as Genesis 2:7-8 (God's creation of Adam) and 15-24 (God's admonition to Adam and His creation of Eve)  in Romanian.  The children understood the story and even answered question.  During this time Haley, Aaron and Abbey had ...

March 8, 2010

Our flight arrived 10 minutes early.  All our luggage was at Timisoara Airport.  Our transportation was at the airport before we arrived and we got to the Dacia Hotel in beautiful downtown Lugoj at 2:00am.  We met for breakfast at 9:30am and were on the road by 11:00am and didn't get back to the hotel until 11:00pm.  At 4:00pm it was just four degrees celsius.

FYI:  I spent all this time writing this totally awesome post about our first day and all the incredible things that happened and when ...

He knows what we need and is faithful to provide

March 5, 2010
I'm still waiting for one more shipment of witness and discipleship tools from Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.  I ordred them last Friday and even paid extra to expedite the shipping.  Why was it not shipped until I sent an email on Wednesday inquiring into the status of the order?  They say it will arrive vis FedEx by Friday evening.  Hmh?  Now I basically have next day shipping without paying extra.  I also ordered supplies from Evantell last Friday and requested a "rush shipment".  ...

Less than three days to go... and counting

March 3, 2010
I am so busy at work and at home trying to make sure that everything runs smoothly in my absence.  l have so much to do and so little time left.  I am confident that the staff at Atlanta Pregnancy Resource Center (APRC) can hold down the fort and Dean and Didi actually can function independently of me.  I also know that the Spirit of the Lord will be guiding us all through this journey.  For this I am thankful.

Getting prayed up and giving Him thanks

March 2, 2010
I have been so blessed by the tremendous outpourings of support, encouragement and love that I have received.  On Saturday, 27 February, I was participating in a retreat for the volunteers at Atlanta Pregnancy Resource Center (APRC) and thirteen women of God prayed over me and for the success of the mission trip.  On Sunday, 28 February, led by our Senior Pastor, Brother Gearl during the first service and Brother Bailey Smith during the second service at One Heart Church (OHC),  brothers and ...

The Lord has provided

March 1, 2010

Dean, Didi, and I have reached the goal for our funds and are grateful to everyone who partnered with us.  All three tickets have been purchased and I've started packing.  I can't believe that I leave in less than five days!  The word "excited" doesn't begin to adequately express the way I feel; I'm eagerly anticipating what God has planned for me, as I serve Him in Romania!

  • 19. And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been give...
